The Special Edition Brewing System is our mid-luxury home brewing system that offers a blend of styling and convenient features. The Special Edition features chrome accents, a blue, back lit LCD display and three brew size options. Programmable features include a Digital Clock, Adjustable Temperature and Auto On/Off. The 48-ounce removable water reservoir holds up to eight cups before refilling and for the removable drip tray allows for easy cleaning and the use of travel mugs.At initial set up, once the machine is filled with water, it will take approximately 4-minutes for the water will be heated. During the heating period the red light next to HEATING on the LED Control Center will become illuminated. Once the water is heated, the red light will turn off and the Small Mug Button will flash. Press the Small Mug Button to start a cleansing brew. Pour the hot water into the sink. The Brewer may take 15 seconds to reheat water between brews during which time the red light next to HEATING on the LED Control Center may be illuminated. When the water has heated, the red light will turn off. The one-time set-up process is now complete and you are ready to brew!

I got a B70 for Xmas and it kept shutting off on its own, so I returned it for another B70. It had the same problem. Then I found all the reviews that said the B70 was defective, so I tried the B60. Same problem again, it won't brew unless I take out the water reservoir and put it back in. Repeat process for each cup you want to brew. The auto turn on feature doesn't work because of this, so don't expect a hassle free cup of coffee in the morning. Definitely not worth it.

Keurig is a waste of money and I dislike it very much. I have only used it 3 or 4 times. The water is not hot enough and if you use a k-cup for a large cup of coffee it is not strong enough or hot enough. Even tiny marshmellows will not melt in the cocoa.
Looks like I am stuck with it.

The good news is the B60 makes great coffee. The bad news is mine broke down after just 5 days. The further good news is that after calling Keurig and explaining they said, "No problem. Keep the old one. We'll send you a new one." Three days later it was on my doorstep. In the past I have only gotten that kind of service from Kitchen Aid.
As for the coffee, we think it's great. My wife and I both love coffee (black) and it's really nice not being locked into a pot that she likes or I like. I get mine, she gets hers. For those who say the coffee is not strong enough I can only say you must have a fondness for battery acid. Even at 9.25 ounces the "Bold" varieties should satisfy anyone's craving for a strong cup of coffee.
In terms of cost, I think it's a wash. I now drink a cup at home before going to our local coffee shop to solve the problems of the world. That's one less $1.50 cup in return for a .50 K-cup. On the other hand I find myself having a cup in the middle of the day (like right now) that I wouldn't ordinarily have because I don't want to brew a pot. On weekend mornings I find I drink less coffee because 2 cups will do me whereas I used to brew 6-8 (to get a "good" pot) and drink it all just because it was there. My stomach seems appreciative of the change.
The available varieties are fun to work through and it is beyond "convenient" being able to get a single cup of truly good coffee anytime we want it day or night---caf or decaf. We are as happy as we can be with this machine and would recommend it to all coffee lovers.

First time keurig buyer (Seattle, WA)

Just bought the B60 Keurig & I was debating between B30, 40, & 60...and boy am I glad I chose this one!! First, I loved the price of B30, but the downside is that you would have to refill the water tank each time you want coffee. The B60 is a little bit more but I love that the B60 has a big water tank and can last me many cups before I need to refill. Second, I love that I can set a timer on my keurig. My husband gets up way earlier than I do...and I can set the timer to 6am so by the time he walks down to the kitchen, the keurig is on and waiting for him. Its awesome. Lastly, I love that it produces a great cup of coffee. I ordered a bunch of variety packs so I can figure out which ones are my favorites...but so far, the coffees that I have tried are great.
I was a little nervous reading a lot of the other reviews of how their broke easily or stopped running...but so far, it works great. If it continues to work like this (which I hope it does)...there is nothing but love for this little machine. I love it. No mess, no clean up....with 3 little boys running around the house, every time I get a cup of coffee...its definitely a treat. This is an AWESOME buy.

I've had my Keurig for about 8 months now. It works as advertised, but the resultant cup of coffee is not very robust and the control over the result is limited by the design. It's convenient to use with K-Cups, but it gets pretty expensive if you drink a fair amount of coffee. If you get the K-Cups (18 to pack) for $10.00 it equates to about 55 cents a cup, if you pay the normal price of $12 that most stores charge, it comes out to about 66 cents a cup. A pound of coffee makes about 30 cups, so if you buy a pound of Starbucks and use a conventional drip coffee maker, it comes out to about 26 cents a cup (assuming $8 a pound) and the coffee will taste much better.
You can buy the accessory that allows you to use your own coffee, but the coffee comes out weak since the screen allows the water to filter through too quickly. It also negates the convenience of the machine since you need to clean the assembly for each cup of coffee you make. You're limited to using about 2 coffee measures if you go this route, so if the coffee is not strong enough for you, you can't add more.
If you do buy this accessory, the trick to making the coffee taste stronger is to take a used K-Cup, open it up and remove the filter basket so that you now have an empty K-Cup shell. With a knife, cut the top lip off of the plastic K-Cup shell. When you make your own coffee, fill the screen basket with the coffee, then drop the screen basket inside the plastic shell from the old K-Cup and insert it into the holder as you normally would. The old K-Cup will keep the water from filtering through the screen so quickly and you will end up with a cup of coffee that approximates that of an actual K-Cup.
The largest cup size you can make is 10 oz which is a pretty small mug. Other than these observations, I've had no problems with the machine functioning as advertised and the coffee comes out hot enough. I've tired of the price and limited choices of K-Cups. I always buy the "bold" ones since they seem to be the only ones that actually have enough flavor. I find myself not using it very often now instead opting for a French press of 4 cup electric coffee maker, both make a more robust cup of coffee. If you like the convenience of using pre-packaged K-Cups and don't mind the cost and limited choices available, then this is a nice machine.
