Product Description The best stocks are simmered slowly over steady, low heat. Calphalon's 12-qt. Stock Pot is crafted of heavy-gauge aluminum to cook ingredients evenly, at just the right temperature. Stick-resistant surface won't react with most foods. Includes flat, anodized lid.
Amazon.com Review Calphalon Commercial hard-anodized pans are made for the more serious cook who is looking for kitchenware built to last a lifetime. This large-size, 12-quart stockpot is good for soup, stews, and pasta, and its heavy-gauge aluminum construction also stands up to deep frying. The looped handles are easy to grip and stay cooler than you might expect, thanks to V-shaped splits where they meet the pan, but it's still a good idea to keep hot pads nearby. The nonporous and nonreactive hard-anodized surface resists sticking and doesn't affect the flavor or color of food. It's also tough enough to handle stainless-steel utensils and vigorous whisking. Unlike pans with plastic or wood handles, the extremely sturdy all-metal construction provides you the flexibility to take the pan to the oven or broiler. But do remember to hand wash your Calphalon pans--dishwasher detergents are bad for the finish and their use voids the lifetime warranty. --Dale Steinke

Lightweight for a commercial grade pot but it is inexpensive. March 10, 2010 John Jaeger (congers, ny United States) Not bad for infrequent use. If cost is a factor this is a fair value. Recommend buying a better brand of commercial grade pot for frequent use.
Just made a killer Chowduh March 8, 2010 Brain S. Ruby (Fort Worth, TX) Grat pan, great size. I hope more of this line becomes available on supersale.
Calphlon Stockpot March 8, 2010 Ed Oakley (Dallas, Texas) This product is a sign of the times. I have had Calphlon cookware for 15 years before commercial high end cookware like this was not really popular for use in homes. I really love my "orginial" cookware which was manufactured in the USA. This piece like all new Calphlon is made in China. I have this same stockpot which I purchased years ago and it weighs twice as much as the new one. The wall thickness is much thinner than the orginial. Cooking in Commercial Aluminum is about heat distribution and the thicker walls is important. If I were buying all new cookware I would not be looking at this product to outfit my kitchen. Im sure that China could duplicate the quality but the company chose profits over quality in this case.
Excellent Buy March 7, 2010 A. Owens (Florence, South Carolina United States) I bought this pot heavily discounted after Christmas but it's well worth the full price. I was amazed at how sturdy it is. I have used other pots of this size that warp and wobble even when full of water, causing it to heat unevenly, but this pot doesn't do that.
going right back to amazon March 4, 2010 Siskel (Las Vegas, NV) do not buy this stockpot! just got it today and it's going back immediately. aside from other reviews concerning leaking from the handles this just looks like a crappy stockpot. when it was made in the u.s.a. i'm sure it was great but that is not the case anymore. it has noticable machine marks which makes the surface rough. the handles look real cheap too. don't let the so called sale price get you like it did me. this isn't worth $60 on sale and amazon shouldn't even sell it. really don't buy it.
